Stuffed Animal Drive for Children's Hospital
|
In
honor of Casey’s giving spirit, and to celebrate her memory, we gave
the students of Paine Primary and Elementary the opportunity to donate
stuffed animals to the Hematology and Oncology Clinic at Children’s
Hospital. It is the practice of the clinic to give a stuffed animal to
each child as a comfort while he/she is undergoing procedures or while
receiving treatments. Casey herself picked one out.
The animals
were collected in every class for two weeks. The response was
overwhelming. The students were then allowed a special pajama or hat
day at school, and the class at each who collected the most received a
party for Casey’s Cause as a thank you. Grace Presbyterian volunteered
to manage the transportation of the animals to Child Life Services at
Children’s.
We are very proud of all the students and the hard
work of the principals and teachers, and feel this was a great way to
celebrate Casey’s life.
