We were the average American family: Daddy Jason (a local police officer), Mommy
Christine (a flexi-pool nurse), daughter Casey (a second grader), and son Caleb
(a 3 year old). We were experiencing all of life with its various trials and tribulations.
At times, especially most recently, we seemed to be involved in constant struggles.
But not one of those struggles could compare with losing our child. That is possibly
the greatest trial one can endure.
You never believe it could happen to you. It is every parent’s worst nightmare,
especially when it occurs suddenly, with no time of warning or preparation. After
caring family members and friends leave and the house becomes unusually quiet, the
initial shock begins to wear off. Then the immense sadness settles in. As the parent,
your mind is reeling with questions: What will our life be like now? How will we
get through the hours and days ahead? How do we celebrate anything anymore? How
do we pass each of those first milestones without her?
As Christians, Jason and I believe that our strength comes from above (Psalms 46:1)
and that the prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:17). We continue to
put our faith and trust in God and in His promises as we attempt to move our lives
forward.
We believe without a doubt and with great joy that Casey’s spirit is in heaven,
eternally safe and secure. Although we will daily grieve for the missed hugs and
for the wonderment of watching her grow up and seeing the young lady she might have
been, we take comfort in knowing she will never experience pain, suffer tragedy
or lose the ones she loves.
Despite our tragedy, we know we are very blessed with the hope that comes through
faith in God and in His Son, Jesus, our savior. By obeying His gospel and living
our lives as He commands through His word, the Bible, the "crown of glory that does
not fade away" will also one day be ours (1 Peter 5:4).
We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude towards
our friends and family who have walked by our side through this time. Words will
never be able to show you how much we appreciate all of you! |
